Swapfig News: Version 0.4.1

Version 0.4.1

You're now witnessing version 0.4.1 of Project Swapfig, of which the update took place over the last couple of days.

As many of us know, the last update brought with it the very first batch of non-Collectible Minifigures (non-CMFs). Star Wars was chosen as the first theme to add, and I found myself with over 500 minifigures to add to the database. That update not only highlighted a few shortcomings with the site as it stood, but it also brought out - and will probably continue to bring out - a few true colours.

You can find out about the changes made in version 0.4.1 by going to the Version Log page, but the most important is the addition of item descriptions. These will serve to differentiate variations of a particular minifigure (Stormtroopers for example), as well as keep the minifigure names short. You'll see these displayed when you edit your haves and wants lists.

Despite asking for help in the last update, and given the number of people who wanted this in the first place, I've had to spend the last week or so trying to figure out how to describe various Star Wars figures all by myself. I've only managed to do Episode 4/5/6 so far, and I haven't had any time to work on other parts of the site. There's still the outstanding issue of sourcing images (some of the ones we have are really bad).

So with that said, I'm not going to be taking or listening to any requests for other themes. The plan right now is to gradually add the other Star Wars subcategories (starting with Episode I), and then very gradually add other themes (starting with my choice).

That's all for this news post.
